Travis Kline oversees AlterEcho's Toxicology and Risk Assessment practice, leading a team of human health and ecological risk assessors to deliver practical risk management strategies and solutions for clients.

He has served as an expert consultant to the EPA, providing senior oversight and negotiation support for investigation, remediation, land reuse and resource management projects nationwide. He was selected by the EPA to oversee the national external peer review of EPA's Human Health Risk Assessment Protocol for Hazardous Waste Combustion Facilities (HHRAP), which serves as the EPA’s de facto "bible" for risk assessment under the auspices of EPA.

When Travis is not busy reading toxicology reports and protecting human health, he tries to keep pace with two active sons and a wife who has discovered triathlons. He is active with the National Ski Patrol as a regional examiner and ski racer, and tries to spend the rest of the year on his bike.

• What do you do for AlterEcho? I help companies identify and improve their environmental impact on people and the planet. I guide clients in assessing any health risks associated with their operations, and then help them develop efficient and effective solutions.
• What's your background? I've been a human health and ecological risk specialist for the last 16 years. My "specialty" is chemical and radiological risks associated with residential, commercial, industrial, military, research and recreational activities.
• If you could do any job other than your own, what would it be? I'd be a professional soccer player in the Premier League, Great Britain.
• Where have you lived before? Chronologically: Frankfurt, Germany; Lancaster, PA; Churchtown, NY; Waterville, ME; Durham, NC; Portland, ME; Kansas City, MO; Damariscotta, ME; Grand Rapids, MI; Marblehead, MA; and Claverack, NY. I will be back in Maine, someday.
• What do you think the most urgent environmental issue is today? No question: Overpopulation. The Earth will heal itself if you give it a chance.
• If you were a superhero, based on your existing skill sets, what would your special power be? Ability to heal injuries.
